The seventh matchday of eFootball.Pro IQONIQ took place on Saturday, April 10th, and included each team earning at least one point by the end of the day. Juventus fought their way into the top three rankings, a position they haven’t achieved since the conclusion of the second matchday of the season. Arsenal FC has once again successfully defended their first place rank, as AS Monaco continues to trail the Gunners by one point. Mucahit21 became the first player to break past the 12,000 threshold in points for defensive gameplay, Lotfi is currently ranked as the top assists provider, and Kilzyou is one goal away from reaching 20 successful shots achieved so far in the competition.
FC Barcelona and FC Bayern München kicked off the competition with the Featured Match of the day. The first game commenced with an early goal by Bayern captain JOSE in minute 4’. Alex Alguacil doubled his club’s lead by minute 10’, creating a more comfortable lead that the German team enjoyed until ALEXR put Barcelona on the scoreboard in minute 72’. The Blaugrana club was unable to achieve an equalizer, however, ending the game at 1-2 in FC Bayern München’s favor. The Barcelona trio began with the lead in Game 2, as a result of ALEX GRD’s shot in minute 47’. JOSE came through for Bayern yet again with an equalizer in minute 69’. Despite the German team being awarded a free kick in extra time at the tail end of the competition, they were unable to sway the result all the way into their favor, with a final result of 1-1. FC Bayern München ultimately walked away with four points, and FC Barcelona with only one.
Manchester United FC and FC Schalke 04 continued a competition that commentators claimed could “potentially have huge ramifications for the remaining matchdays.” MeroMen put Schalke on the board almost immediately with his first goal in minute 3’, which was countered by minute 15’ with Manchester captain E_C_Oneill's gameplay. Youngster Ostrybuch achieved another by in minute 39’, only to see the score equalized yet again in minute 81’ by MeroMen. After the English club escaped Schalke’s free kick, they came back to win the game 3-2 with Ostrybuch’s last goal of the day in minute 90+3’. The second game featured the first scoreless draw of the season, with both clubs fighting it out in the “titanic battle” that included various missed chances and each team gaining one point as a result. Combined with their Game 1 victory, Manchester United FC ended up earning four points as the seventh matchday came to an end.
The third fixture included gameplay by AS Roma and Celtic FC, as the Italian trio hoped to maintain a position within Knockout Stage contention. Scottish club representatives Jorcha and Gagliardo28 achieved the first two shots of the game, in minutes 14’ and 23’, bringing Celtic FC ahead into a comfortable lead. Within the first five minutes of the second half, however, AS Roma’s KEPA single handedly equalized the result with two headers, the first in minute 26’ and the second in minute 50’, bringing the final score to a 2-2 tie. The action of Game 2 commenced with Gagliardo28’s shot in minute 23’, which commentators praised as “breathtaking” and speculated could prove to be award-worthy. It wasn’t enough to earn a win for Celtic FC, however, as KEPA continued with increasing his personal goal tally. His additional two goals created the 2-1 result that granted AS Roma four more points on the league table.
Opposite ends of the league table went head-to-head in the fourth match, as first place Arsenal FC faced Galatasaray SK. In a surprising first game, the Turkish club proved their place in the league starting with StavAttack’s goal, which was the result from a penalty kick in minute 29’. Although INDOMINATOR equalized the game ten minutes later, Kruji’s second career goal in eFootball.Pro IQONIQ earned Galatasaray the 2-1 win against the league leading Gunners. The second game featured impressive gameplay from both clubs, beginning with Arsenal’s INDOMINATOR and barboza creating a 2-0 lead by minute 50’. Kruji put Galatasaray on the scoreboard in minute 64’, however baroza defended the English trio's position with a goal four minutes later. While StavAttack created a close battle towards the end of the game with his final goal in minute 83’, the score remained at 2-3 until the final whistle, giving three points to both teams.
Juventus and AS Monaco closed out the seventh matchday, entering the competition closely ranked and separated by only two points. The highly anticipated matchup didn’t disappoint, with AS Monaco taking the first three points after an incredible performance by Kilzyou, which included a hat trick, as well as a hat trick of assists provided by his teammate, Lotfi. ETTORITO97 helped the Italian club avoid a shutout loss with a goal in minute 70’, bringing the score to 1-3. The following match featured Juventus “flipping the script”, earning a 3-1 victory to secure the other three available points, achieved by two shots of LoScandalo, and another of ETTORITO97’s. Kilzyou scored the Monegasque trio’s only goal of the game, positioning him even higher in his first place position on the goal scorer’s list with a total of 19 successful shots.
The MVP of Matchday 6 and the best goal award of the March 27th competition were presented at the beginning of the day. Arsenal FC’s barboza won the prize for the best goal, and AS Roma captain RoksaCzv22 was named MVP. The awards of Matchday 7 will be announced on Saturday, April 24th. In order to decide the MVP, KONAMI chooses one player out of the five based on CO-OP points determined by the video game. Both MVP and Best Goal are individual prizes that award 10,000€ each to the winner.
The following fixtures for the eighth matchday have officially been announced: Arsenal FC vs. AS Roma, AS Monaco vs. Galatasaray SK, Juventus vs. FC Schalke 04, Celtic FC vs. FC Barcelona, FC Bayern München vs. Manchester United FC. Matchday 8 is scheduled to broadcast on Saturday, April 24th at 1:00pm CEST (11:00pm GMT).
