PREVIEW: Matchday 4 begins with close competition and new league leaders

With only three points separating the top seven clubs, the eFootball.Pro IQONIQ competition remains open for all teams to advance

The fourth matchday of eFootball.Pro IQONIQ is set to stream live on Saturday, February 13th. Following a major shake-up on the league table at the end of Matchday 3, all eyes are on FC Barcelona as they hope to keep their first place position, and AS Monaco aims to reclaim their spot at the top.

FC Bayern München vs. AS Roma

The first fixture of the day has potential to be full of surprises, as FC Bayern München is facing one of the new clubs of the 2020-21 season, AS Roma. Not only have they not experienced competition against this Italian club yet, but Roma is also debuting a new player for the first time this season, Aca. Teammates RoksaCzv22 and KEPA have already played against their German opponents before, as representatives of FC Nantes in Day 2 of the eFootball.Pro Cup, where they were victorious 3-2 over the eventual championship trio. Both teams’ players have proven their PES skills so far, with RoksaCzv22 ranking as the top defensive player, and tied for third highest goal scorer at six goals, alongside Bayern’s Alex Alguacil and two other players. The clubs are only separated by one ranking on the league table, as AS Roma is in 6th place with nine points, and FC Bayern München is in 7th with six points.

Arsenal FC vs. Juventus

As they both made their eFootball.Pro IQONIQ debuts last season, and were set to compete in Matchday 9, Arsenal FC and Juventus did not play against each other in the 2019-20 Regular Season. However, all current members of Arsenal FC faced the Italian trio while representing their previous teams: INDOJAWA and INDOMINATOR (previously Celtic FC) in the eFootball.Pro Cup Group Stage Day 2, which ended in a draw, and barboza (previously Boavista FC) in Matchday 3 of the 2019-20 season, where he achieved two goals and one win for his team. The Juventus roster has dominated offensive gameplay so far this season, with LoScandalo entering the matchday as the sole top scorer with eight goals, and ETTORITO97 with the most assists (7). Arsenal FC and Juventus are both going into Matchday 4 with nine points on the league table, with the Italian club placed 4th and the English club 6th, making this fixture crucial for either teams’ advancement.

Celtic FC vs. Galatasaray SK

In the most unknown fixture of the day, the third matchup features almost all eFootball.Pro IQONIQ rookies, with only Celtic FC captain, Jorcha, as a returning player. This will be the Scottish club’s first time facing one of the new teams of the 2020-21 season. Although these two clubs make up the bottom of the league table, their players’ individual gameplay has stood out so far this season. Galatasaray SK’s Mucahit21 is currently ranked as the second best defensive player in the league, with Celtic’s Jorcha trailing closely at fourth best. In addition to Galatasaray SK already having a roster of all new players, they will be debuting Kruji for the first time this season, to play alongside Mucahit21 and StavAttack. With Celtic FC now in 9th place following their first win of the season against FC Bayern München, and Galatasaray SK in 10th, both clubs are eager to earn points and climb the league table.

Manchester United FC vs. FC Barcelona

These two clubs most recently faced off in the Semifinals of the eFootball.Pro Cup, which resulted in one draw and one win, ultimately advancing FC Barcelona to the Final. ALEX GRD also has experience playing against the English squad from Matchday 3 of the 2019-20 season when he represented Arsenal FC, where he scored the only two goals of the entire match. FC Barcelona’s current members have displayed impressive skill, as ALEXR is the second highest goal scorer of the league currently, with seven goals and THE PALMA is tied for third with six goals along with three other players. THE PALMA is also ranked second in assists (6), with teammate ALEX GRD right behind him in third (5). FC Barcelona made eFootball.Pro IQONIQ history in Matchday 3 as the first team to dethrone AS Monaco from their first place ranking on the league table with twelve points. Manchester United FC is close behind in 3rd place with eleven points.

FC Schalke 04 vs. AS Monaco

Ending the 2019-20 season at opposite ends of the league table, with FC Schalke 04 in 10th place and AS Monaco in 1st, this fixture will begin with a different look as the Monegasque club enters the competition ranked below FC Schalke 04 for the first time. The German club is in 2nd place with twelve points, separated by four rankings from Monaco, currently in 5th place with nine points. This fixture will include the Matchday 1 MVP, Usmakabyle, and the best goal award recipient of Matchday 2, EL_Matador. Between the two teams, they also have three of the top ten defensive players in the entire league, FC Schalke 04’s  EL_Matador (8th with 4,702) and MeroMen (10th with 4,616), and AS Monaco’s Usmakabyle (9th with 4,627). AS Monaco will be entering the competition hoping to climb back up the leaderboard, as FC Schalke 04 hopes to maintain their ranking and advance to the top of the league table.
