The second matchup of the day featured gameplay between AS Monaco and Galatasaray SK, which ended in one 1-1 draw, and a 4-2 victory for the Monegasque club that brought them back up into the first place position that they last occupied going into Matchday 3 of the Regular Season. The outcome also played a hand in officially taking Galatasaray SK out of the running for Knockout Stage contention. StavAttack and Lotfi spoke with eFootball.Pro IQONIQ commentator Harry Channon following their match.
At this point in the matchday, it was still mathematically possible for the Turkish club to qualify depending on the results of other fixtures, however by the conclusion of the competition they were stripped of the possibility. StavAttack looked back on the competition: “The goals created the loss for us. This kind of luck can eliminate us, with no chance of going to the next round. Of course, we always have hope and we’ll try to be better next matchday. In Game 2, we started a bit sloppy in the first half, and in the second we played well and I think we deserved more.”
StavAttack: "We’ll go for the six, there’s nothing else we can do.”
The Turkish club captain proceeded to analyze his next opponents, FC Barcelona: “They have their ups and downs, like we do, but like I said before this matchday, we want to create a fairytale for our fans. We’ll see how this day ends. We’ll go for the six, there’s nothing else we can do.”
Harry then spoke with Lotfi, congratulating him after AS Monaco became the first official club to advance to the Knockout Stage. Lotfi spoke about their victory: “It was our target since the beginning of the season to make the top six, so we’re very happy about this.” He went on to admit: “We’re a bit disappointed about the first game, because I think we deserved to win the match. We missed a lot of occasions and we were unlucky, but it’s the game. Four points is a good result, and we’re happy to be in the top six. It’ll be easier to play the last matchday knowing this.”
He then discussed their upcoming competition, FC Bayern München: “It will be a difficult match. They will fight to be in the top six, so they’ll be at 100% and we know that they defend very well. For us, it’s hard to attack with our players. We’ll try to work hard to find the best solutions to score and win one of two games.”
