The eFootball™ Championship Pro 2023 has concluded with the Red Devils lifting the trophy as champions. In a heart-stopping Grand Final, Nekza won the first match against FCB_Mestre by 0-2 and Kilzyou and FCB_Jose went to the ultimate penalty shoot-out in which the captain of the German team missed twice and Manchester United were proclaimed champions of the 2023 season with Kilzyou named as MVP of the Knockout Stage. On the road, FC Barcelona lost 1-2 against the runners-up and AC Milan made it to the Semifinals, but lost 2-1 against United. AS Roma and Arsenal FC didn’t pass further on that Quarterfinals as both of them were beaten 2-0 by FC Bayern, the former, and AC Milan, the latter.
More than 1,5 million viewers followed the Knockout Stage live last Saturday. The entire event has been uploaded to the eFootball™ YouTube channel with more than 3 million views so far.
FC Bayern München started the KO Stage with a resounding 5-1 win for FCB_Mestre against ASR_STIFFLER. Turkey's Mucahit21 then came in to try and reach the semifinals, but Roman captain ASR_URMA43 didn't make it easy for him. The match remained 1-1 after 90 minutes and went to extra time. When it looked like extra time would also end in a draw and the game would go to penalties, Mucahit21 surprised with a great counter-attack to make it 2-1 in the last minute.
The second quarterfinal match pitted the Gunners against the Rossoneri again, following the tremendous thrashing the latter inflicted on the former on the last matchday of the regular season, which saw AC Milan narrowly squeeze through to the KO Stage. Again, it was a similar story. In the first match, a rising FRANKINO defeated a desperate Roksa22 1-2 and in the second game it was the rossoneri captain ACM_Naples17x who had to come back from 2-0 down to take the match to extra time and then to the penalty shootout, where the gunner captain missed his fifth attempt and, after Naples17x scored, the Milanese went through to the semifinals.
A clash of titans and former teammates in the first semifinal of the championship. FC Barcelona, leaders of the Regular League, faced a FC Bayern hungry for the title. The first game was a point in favour of the blaugranas thanks to a solid victory of the MVP of the Regular League, Ettorito97, against Mucahit21 by 3-0. Then, the second game hosted a fratricidal fight between Alex Alguacil and his ex-captain FCB_Jose. The match went to extra time after a 2-2 score in the first 90 minutes and in the second part of the extra time, just minutes before the penalty shootout, FCB_Jose scored the third to define the second game in favour of the Bavarians. The tie would be decided in the third game, in which FCB_Mestre took a two-goal lead. Near the end, the culer captain, The Palma, cut the gap and put the Germans under pressure, but they were able to hold their nerve and made it through to the Grand Final.
Manchester United booked a direct passage to the semifinals after finishing second in the Regular League. The French side faced an AC Milan side who held their nerve to force United into three games. In the first game, a spectacular FRANKINO once again showed his potential by beating last season's MVP Nekza by a massive 0-3 scoreline. In the second game, Kilzyou restored the balance on the aggregate scoreboard by beating ACM Naples17x 3-2 with the winning goal in extra time. The third game that defined the second finalist fell to the Red Devils thanks to a solid 4-2 win by United’s captain Lotfi against ACM Sasinho.
The Grand Final of the eFootball™ Championship Pro 2023 pitted two legendary teams of the competition, FC Bayern München against Manchester United. In the first game, Nekza bounced back from his defeat in the semifinals by beating FCB_Mestre 0-2 and leaving it to Kilzyou to win the second game for his team. However, this match was tremendously close and tense as you would expect from such a decisive game, and after a 0-0 draw in regulation time and extra time, the match went to a penalty shoot-out. FCB_Jose missed the third kick and Kilzyou saved the fourth penalty from the German captain with De Gea, so after Kilzyou scored his fourth, Manchester United were crowned champions for the 2023 season.
