The new eFootball™ Championship Pro season promises lots of entertaining matches throughout a season that returns to the offline format and which will be held on-site in Barcelona from February to June.
This season the competition will be shaped by a Regular League with 7 matchdays where all matches will be divided into three 1vs1 games with a points system of 3-1-0 points awarded per win, draw or loss. Only the six top ranked clubs at the end of the Regular League will advance to the KO Stage, not leaving much room for mistakes or points given away. The competitiveness is maximum and this may be one of the reasons that has led to all but one team from last season, AS Roma, to change their roster and sign new players. Let's take a deeper look at the clubs and players that will be participating this coming season.
The FC Barcelona esports team returns to the competition for the fifth season in a row. Last year they were eliminated in the quarter-finals, but they are back for a better result. With the intention of being more competitive, the Catalan team has reinforced its roster with two experienced and well-known players: the multiple world champion Ettorito97 (Ettore Giannuzzi), returning to the top level after a year away from competition, and the Spaniard Alex Alguacil, who returns to Barcelona after spending three years with FC Bayern München. Both players already won the title together with the Blaugranas 5 years ago and now they want to emulate the feat captained by the Spanish goalscorer The Palma (Saul Chávez).
The Red Devils were disappointed last season after not making it to the KO Stage. That may have led them to decide to change their entire team and they have taken a big gamble by signing an entire squad of French talents: last season’s MVP, Top Scorer and Champion Nekza (Lucas Lorge); last season’s MVP of the Group A, Kilzyou (Kilyan Faucheux); and the experienced captain Lotfi Derradji. The two latest know each other well, having already played together with AS Monaco and Celtic FC in the last three years. With this portentous squad Manchester United will surely deliver a good performance in the coming matches.
Last season, the German giants stood at the gates of glory after losing the Grand Final with AS Monaco. A bitter-sweet taste for a great performance which began with ups and downs but improved as the season progressed. For the upcoming season, they have lost a very talented player like Alex Alguacil, but they filled the space left with another skilled player like Mucahit21 (Mücahit Sevimli). The Turkish talent joins the Spanish duo FCB_Jose (Jose Carlos Sánchez Guillén) and FCB_Mestre (Miguel Mestre Oltra) under the guidance of the Austrian coach Lutti-1 (Matthias Luttenberger) in an attempt to make amends with their past and finally win the eFootball™ Championship Pro trophy . Will the Bavarians achieve their long-awaited goal?
The new eFootball™ partner club will have a slot in the upcoming season and that can only be good for the competition. A club as historic as the Rossoneri will give their rivals a real challenge and will surely raise the competitive level of the tournament. AC Milan comes with a full Italian roster featuring the reigning eFootball™ Championship Open winner in the XBOX platform, ACM Naples17x (Carmine Liuzzi), alongside the competition debutants ACM Sasinho (Salvatore Di Giacomo) and ACM Kirito (Luigi Loffredo). The Italian trio looks like a very tight-knit team, so they are likely to surprise many.
Another new addition to the competition that will delight fans of eFootball. The Nerazzurri join the competition and come with a squad full of high expectations. Captained by MeroMen (Mehrab Esmailian), a former Schalke 04 player who didn’t participated last year, the Italian team is banking on Franco-Portuguese Christopher_M_M (Christopher Maduro Morais) and Turkish youngster ArdaGolaaazooo (Arda Yıldız), aged just 15.
The second British team to compete in this tournament will be Arsenal FC, who return for another attempt to reach the Knockout Stage after being eliminated in the Group Stage last season. The Gunners repeats with their captain INDOMINATOR (Yos Sonneveld), but they add to their roster two strong players: the ex-Barça and eEuro 2021 champion Roksa22 (Marko Roksic) and the young Polish talent Ostrybuch (Mikolaj Zietek), who comes from Manchester United after 3 years.
After a formidable first place in the Group Stage B, the Romans were eliminated in the semifinals by FC Bayern München. Nevertheless, the Giallorrossi managers are confident with their roster from last season and they have wanted to repeat another year with the same squad, becoming the only team that has not changed any of its three pieces. Captain ASR_Urma43 (Adrian Urma), former Group B MVP, will lead the Italian duo ASR_Gagliardo28 (Salvatore Gagliardo) and ASR_STIFFLER (Andrea Galimberti).
The French League 1 club are the reigning champions after an outstanding performance led mainly by the 4-time-world-champion Usmakabyle (Rachid Tebane) and the young star and debutant last season, Nekza. The Monegasques have lost the latter to Manchester United, but the French captain remains in the team with the same hunger for titles. This year he will also have two strong ex-Manchester United teammates at his side, Frenchman Kams10_ (Kamel El Morabet) and Dutchman E_C_Oneill (Eldridge O’Niel), with whom AS Monaco hopes to retain the eFootball™ Championship Pro title.
The atmosphere is heating up and the start of the competition is just around the corner. The live streaming of the event can be followed from anywhere in the world via the eFootball™ YouTube and Facebook accounts next Saturday, February 11th, at 13:00 CET.
