Players’ opinions on stat balancing

eFootball.Pro applies Uniform Overall Ratings to the in-game teams to assure fairness in the competition and make players’ skills stand out

eFootball PES 2020, as well as previous editions of the video game, includes the stat balancing mode. This feature changes and balances in-game players’ level, so all teams have virtually the same rating. This option is applied in the official competitions, such as eFootball.Pro and former PES League, to make the individual skills of the professional players count. We asked eFootball.Pro season 1 players what they think about balanced stats, also known as Uniform Overall Ratings.

Lotfi: "Stat balancing is good for this competition. It allows us to represent our club, while playing with the players of our club and keeping its identity".

INDOMINATOR describes how he sees stat balancing: “In my opinion, it’s the best solution to keep PES esports authentic and close to real football. It makes sure that PES players who are representing a club, are able to play with the authentic players of their club in the game instead of playing with a fantasy team”. First season champion Lotfi also refers to how this allows them to play using AS Monaco and the rest of the clubs in the league: “I think this is a good mode for this competition, it allows us to represent our club, while playing with the players of our club and keeping its identity”.

Both players mention the impartiality of balanced stats. Lotfi says that “this rebalancing removes the level difference between the teams, which is very important so that no one begins with a benefit”. For INDOMINATOR, “it's the most fair mode which is available in the game when it comes to equality in strength of the teams”.

Usmakabyle: "Last season we didn’t have the best team but that didn’t stop us from winning by making the best use of our players. You just have to adapt to your team".

About how professional players use this mode, Usmakabyle makes the most of it: “Last season we didn’t have the best (in-game) team but that didn’t stop us from winning by making the best use of our players, you just have to adapt to your team”. His teammate Lotfi agrees: “Of course we have to adapt but it’s normal as a professional to have to adapt to any situation and to work and train for it”.

Finally, for Schalke 04’s MeroMen, it is also a positive option: “I think the idea of the balanced stats mode is theoretically good”. He considers that it can be improved if unknown players are not given better stats, after balancing, than top-notch players, and by balancing even more some aspects: “Teams must not differ in terms of speed, dribbling, finishing and more”. MeroMen concludes that “if such things are considered correctly and the balanced stats mode is used correctly, it’s a sensible action”.
