E_C_Oneill: “The competition is very close and every point is important now”

Both AS Monaco and Manchester United FC express desire for more points in hopes of maintaining Knockout Stage qualifying positions by the end of the Regular Season

The third matchup of Matchday 5 featured gameplay between AS Monaco and Manchester United FC, which ended in one win for each club and three points being allocated to both teams on the league table. Harry Channon spoke with AS Monaco’s Lotfi and Manchester United FC’s E_C_Oneill about the outcome of the match and their thoughts on the remaining competition.

Channon first interviewed Lotfi about Monaco’s first game victory, which was followed by a defeat in the second. Lotfi acknowledged: “They were difficult games. We knew before that it would be hard. In the first game, I think we defended perfectly. In the second game I think it was possible to have a draw, but they scored more goals.” He went on to admit: “Three points isn’t such a bad result, but I think it was possible to earn more points this matchday.”

Lotfi: “Three points isn’t such a bad result, but I think it was possible to earn more points this matchday.”

The Monegasque team representative was then asked about the next fixture scheduled against Arsenal FC, who had recently taken over the first place position on the league table. Lotfi predicted: “I think it will be a difficult game, like always. We know they have a special style and with this style they get very good results each matchday. We’ll train a lot and try to get the maximum of points.”

Harry then spoke with Manchester United FC captain E_C_Oneill about the results of the match. E_C_Oneill analyzed the first game: “Unfortunately, although we tried to defend and find the space, it was hard. In the end, it was a very hard game. We tried to turn it around. They were very tense, close games.” Overall, he claimed: “I’m very happy with the three points because last time we had zero, and as you can see the competition is very close and every point is important now. Getting three points against the best team in the league, I’m happy with it.”

Looking forward to the upcoming matchup against AS Roma, the English club captain pointed out: “We have to focus on the remaining four games to get as many points as possible to stay in the top 6.” Specifically mentioning AS Roma’s captain, he explained: “RoksaCzv22 and I have a little rivalry between us, every time we play against each other we draw. So this time it’s time for us to get six points.”
