The eFootball™ Championship Pro 2023 Regular League has ended with FC Barcelona at the top of the table. The blaugranas have obtained the direct pass to the semifinals despite losing 6 points against AS Roma. In the quarterfinals, the giallorossi will face an FC Bayern München side that lost all 3 matches against Manchester United. The Red Devils secured their place in the semifinals where they will await the winner of the quarterfinals 2 between Arsenal FC and AC Milan. The Gunners not only lost the league lead but were knocked out of the Top 2 after being thrashed against all odds by AC Milan, who by securing the 9 points ousted AS Monaco from the playoffs and earned their place to compete next June 24th for the champion's trophy.
FC Barcelona suffered its first defeat of the season during the last regular league match. Against all odds, the giallorossi put in a great performance to beat the blaugranas in the first two games: ASR_Gagliardo28 came from behind to beat Barça's captain The Palma 2-1 and ASR_STIFFLER imposed the first defeat on the multi-champion Ettorito97 1-0. Meanwhile, ASR_URMA43 was unable to overcome Alex Alguacil, whose 2-3 win rescued three points that allowed FC Barcelona to draw level on points with Manchester United and, on points difference in the individual match between them on the first matchday, to take the lead and finish as regular season champions. In this way, Barcelona go straight through to the semi-finals where they will face the winner of FC Bayern and AS Roma, and could meet the Italians again if they beat the Bavarians in the quarterfinals.
Against FC Inter, who were already out of the running for qualification, AS Monaco were playing for a place in the knockout stages with a four-point cushion over seventh-placed AC Milan. What was supposed to be a straightforward test for the Monegasques turned out to be a debacle after they could only manage three points thanks to three 2-2 draws. This, coupled with AC Milan's unexpected full house against then leaders Arsenal FC, would ultimately condemn to elimination the team captained by the Regular League's top scorer Usmakabyle, who with 20 goals bids farewell to the competition until next year.
The biggest surprise of the day came in the third match, when AC Milan thrashed Arsenal FC, who were playing for a direct passage to the semifinals. The Gunners, at the time leaders in the standings, were stunned by three unstoppable performances from ACM Naples17x, who beat Ostrybuch by 0-2; FRANKINO, who came from behind against INDOMINATOR; and ACM Sasinho, who after comprehensively beating the giant Roksa22 by 1- 4, sealed the epic of getting the 9 points of the match, achieving the only chance they had to advance to the quarterfinals where they will face again Arsenal FC in what could be a historic revenge.
The last match of the Regular League pitted two European giants, FC Bayern and Manchester United, who were neck and neck, with only three points separating the Bavarians in the fight to reach the Top 2. As fate would have it, it was the English team who rounded off a full house of victories: Lotfi beat FCB_Mestre by 0-2, while Nekza and Kilzyou did the same with Mucahit21 and FCB_Jose, beating them by 0-1 and 1-2. Thus, the Red Devils jumped to second place in the table, tied on points with the eventual regular season champions FC Barcelona, but only behind due to the points difference between them in direct confrontation on the first matchday of the league.
