First season club, AS Roma, strips AS Monaco of their undefeated title early in the season

Two hat tricks were achieved in the second matchday, and Manchester United FC is closing in on AS Monaco’s first place ranking with only one point separating them on the league table

AS Monaco still sits in first place, now with four clubs within three points of their ranking after adding only three points themselves during the January 16th competition. Hat tricks were achieved by both AS Roma's RoksaCzv22 and AS Monaco's Kilzyou, showcasing the elite offensive skills fans can expect to see as teams move forward in the season.

Matchday 2 commenced with an exciting matchup between FC Barcelona and Arsenal FC. Both teams entered the day’s competition with three points, each hoping to continue rising in the rankings. The first game resulted in a victory for the Blaugrana squad (3-1) with rookie ALEXR scoring two of the goals himself, and Arsenal FC being unable to achieve success with any of their shots on goal aside from captain INDOMINATOR’s in minute 48’. The Gunners redeemed themselves in the second game, however, defeating FC Barcelona (3-2) with goals from all three of their players, resulting in both teams taking three points to the league table at the conclusion of the match.

Manchester United FC and Celtic FC faced off in the third game of the day, with the Scottish team hoping to finally add points to the league table. The first game started with a goal by Kams10_ in the English team’s favor almost immediately, and then a first successful shot by eFootball.Pro rookie, umbee96_, to tie the score where it remained for the rest of that competition. In the following, youngster Ostrybuch managed to score two goals in a row, in minutes 30’ and 78’, in a successful bid to win, earn his team four points, and save their spot towards the top of the standings.

As the matchday continued, AS Roma faced league leading AS Monaco. Although a new team in the league, Roma made their skills known in the first game with a hat trick by RoksaCzv22, and a final score of 3-2, ending Monaco’s short-lived undefeated streak, a feat that wasn’t accomplished until Matchday 5 of the 2019-20 season. The Monegasque club returned with a vengeance in the second game, securing a shutout victory of 0-5, featuring a second hat trick of the competition by Kilzyou, to avoid losing any additional points to their Italian opponents.

The following matchups between FC Schalke 04 vs. FC Bayern München and Galatasaray SK vs. Juventus experienced latency issues. The results of the following competitions are currently under review by KONAMI and are not reflected in the league table. While a decision on how to proceed is being made, the matches that took place are included here to reflect the impressive matchday witnessed by viewers in the livestream:

The first of the two games between FC Bayern München and FC Schalke 04 ended with a shutout win for the Bavarian club, largely thanks to team captain JOSE. He was responsible for both of his team’s two goals contributing to the 0-2 result. The second game saw an early lead from FC Schalke 04 with a goal from Urma in minute 11’, followed by one from EL_Matador in minute 22’ and another of Urma’s in 49’, giving them a comfortable lead for the second half of the game. Despite a valiant effort from Bayern, the score ended at 3-2 in favor of Schalke following their “historic performance.”

To close out Matchday 2, Galatasaray SK and Juventus battled it out in the last match of the livestream. With a comfortable 0-2 lead for the Italian club as they entered the 60th minute of the first game, Galatasaray SK stunned them with a goal by Djibrilliant (minute 64’) and another by StavAttack (minute 88’) to bring the game to its end result of 2-2. Juventus emerged victorious from the second competition (2-4) with gameplay including a hat trick by IL DISTRUTTORE44.

The MVP of Matchday 1 and the best goal award of the December 12th competition were presented at the beginning of the day. ALEXR of FC Barcelona won the prize for the best goal, and AS Monaco’s Usmakabyle was the most valuable player. The awards of Matchday 2 will be announced on Saturday, January 30th. In order to decide the MVP, KONAMI chooses one player out of the five based on CO-OP points determined by the video game. Both MVP and Best Goal are individual prizes that award 10,000€ each to the winner.
