Arsenal FC earns top position on league table, rising above FC Barcelona

Matchday 5 of eFootball.Pro IQONIQ featured unexpected results, closely fought competition, and all teams but one changing rankings in the league

After one month, eFootball.Pro IQONIQ returned on Saturday, March 13th with gameplay that altered almost every position on the league table. While advancing themselves from 7th to 4th place following their critical six point victory, Juventus’ performance also played a role in dethroning FC Barcelona from their first place rank, which has now been filled by Arsenal FC. FC Bayern München has fallen to the bottom of the table, however only ten points separate the first and last place teams leaving Knockout Stage qualification a possibility for all clubs. There was standout individual gameplay as well, notably Mucahit21’s as he landed himself at the top of the defense table with 8,858 points.

FC Barcelona and Juventus opened the competition for Matchday 5 as the featured match, with over 56% of fans predicting a victory for the Blaugrana squad. Barcelona began on the offensive with a first successful shot in minute 9’ by ALEXR, however it was immediately countered in minute 11’ by IL DISTRUTTORE44. The game continued quietly throughout the second half, with several missed chances by FC Barcelona to get ahead. LoScandalo managed to take advantage of a defensive error and earned the 1-2 win for Juventus in minute 91’. IL DISTRUTTORE44 emerged as the key player of Game 2, by scoring an incredible four goals to achieve a shutout second victory of 0-4 for the Italian club, completing a hat trick and successfully doubling his season tally of goals in just one game alone. This permitted Juventus to take all six points to the league table, leaving Barcelona with zero as the day came to an end.

FC Bayern München and Arsenal FC’s fixture was next up, the clubs separated by four ranks but only three points on the league table, with Bayern hoping to move up to a Knockout Stage qualifying position. Arsenal FC captain INDOMINATOR was the first to score in minute 33’, then the score was equalized by MESTRE’s successful penalty kick in minute 53’. INDOJAWA guaranteed the first three points for the English club however by creating the 1-2 result in minute 66’. Although the second game started off in Bayern’s favor with captain JOSE’s goal in minute 36’, the Gunners ultimately came ahead yet again with INDOMINATOR’s second shot of the day in minute 60’ and barboza’s game winning standout finish in minute 90+3’ to create the 1-2 score. This six point gain advanced the English squad all the way up to the coveted first place position on the league table.

Manchester United FC and AS Monaco faced off in the third match, as Monaco aimed to maintain the momentum of their previous six point victory. They were on track with Game 1, despite E_C_Oneill’s immediate goal in minute 3’, as the Monegasque trio followed up with a shot by Kilzyou in minute 44’ and then two in a row by Lotfi in minutes 57’ and 76’. This gameplay earned them the 1-3 achievement and the first three points of the matchday. The second game was a goal show featuring a closely fought competition, with all four of Manchester United FC’s goals being achieved by youngster Ostrybuch, marking his first hat trick of the season and more than doubling his goal amount from all previous matchdays. Monaco’s three goals fell short of taking the remaining three points to the league table, instead permitting their English opponents to do so following their 4-3 win.

FC Schalke 04 and Celtic FC competed in the fourth matchup, with Gagliardo28 making his eFootball.Pro IQONIQ debut representing the Scottish club. German captain MeroMen brought his club into the lead within the first five minutes, however Gagliardo28 proved to be a beneficial addition to Celtic’s roster by equalizing the score in minute 7’. Rookie umbee96_ joined the action in minute 10’, bringing his club ahead then just before halftime EL_Matador scored an own goal in minute 45+3’, increasing Celtic’s lead. Urma and Jorcha each scored once more for their team’s, ending the game in a 2-4 win for the Scottish team. Despite Gagliardo28 and Jorcha’s successful shots in Game 2, the FC Schalke 04 trio each scored a goal, with Urma achieving an extra, all contributing to the 4-2 result that put three points on the league table for the German squad.

AS Roma and Galatasaray SK faced off in the final fixture of the day, the only match in the Regular Season to feature the two new clubs in eFootball.Pro IQONIQ. The first game was in AS Roma’s favor for the majority of the match after KEPA’s shot in minute 14’. In his second career matchday, Kruji recorded his first goal of the season in minute 80’, bringing the result to a draw where it remained until the competition’s conclusion. The second game showcased the talent of both clubs, including a goal show featuring StavAttack’s hat trick, and goals by almost every other player aside from Galatasaray’s Kruji. However, commentators credited the new player with crucial defensive gameplay that led to the Turkish team’s 3-4 victory that ultimately earned them four points by the day’s conclusion.

The MVP of Matchday 4 and the best goal award of the February 13th competition were presented at the beginning of the day. ALEX GRD of FC Barcelona won the prize for the best goal, and AS Monaco’s Kilzyou was named the most valuable player. The awards of Matchday 5 will be announced on Saturday, March 27th.
